ok so I marinated some meat for 24hours in an awesome smelling and tasting marinade, and went to put it in my new dehydrator I got for xmas, and it was broken. Fan was making a terrible noise, as if it was loose.

So I've put it on the top rack of my oven with a drip tray below. Oven is on 70 - 80 deg and the door is a jar so it can cycle the air through. House smells like marinated meat, awesome!

Question is, how long should i leave it in the oven for?

There's a setup here at work. We've got a rack made that sits in front of the split system on full heat in one of the pump rooms. Works a charm. And makes a shitload at once.

5 year old thread revival.

Best Biltong ever tasted: in Swaziland last month, only butcher along the highway(the one with a million potholes) on the way to Mozambique. Quality of beef in Swaziland is amazing, and Kudu is top notch in Mozambique.

Converted a cupboard into a drying box. Makes great biltong. Cost under $40 and couldn't be happier.

Getting a sausage machine this week to try my hand at drowoers, salami, chorizo etc.
