Default Replacing a head gasket on a Diesel Toyota Surf?

Hi there,

Just curious if anyone has ever replaced a head gasket on a Diesel Toyota Surf? A guy at work has one he uses as a bunky, and he overheated it the other day. I've not looked at it myself yet but he thinks the head gasket is gone, and as it's also got hail damage it's worth two fifths of f*ck all to try and sell as is.

I've replaced plenty of head gaskets on petrol cars but never on a diesel, and I was wondering how hard could it be? I could do with a 4x4 bunky ..

Cheers,

Wrxpc

Messy, but pretty much no different to a petrol car. when you do the head, recommend send the turbo to get done cause they always leak.

Cool, thanks. When you say "send the turbo to get done", where do you send them?

Cheers,

Not sure to be honest, I haven't even popped the bonnet on it yet

I don't mind spending the time tinkering with it but only if I can get if for cheap. It will make a good bunky and I can throw the kayak on the roof and hit the beach.

Cheers,

Wrxpc.

Surf's frequently crack cylinder heads, the repair may well exceed the car's value.
