as far as I know, a certain % of blocks released in any area are designated homeswest - you'd be lucky to avoid them completely

This is what happened to my brother and his neighbours. They got told all the HomesWest lots have been taken up in his area, and that's why he built where he did.

2 years later they released more land and put in 8 units. Brand Spanking new, 3 months later they have had all the flyscreens ripped off, all the grass has been killed, skids on the driveways. The tenants just don't care in any of them. Was a really nice neighbourhood, now it's just a ghetto. Can't leave a window cracked in the house.

All the neighbours have complained, so the council came down and put neighbourhood watch signs up.

This is correct my brother has just spent the last 3 months building units in Bertram for BGC with more units to be built at a later date.

Not if you build in a private estate.

Wishing I did this! Even though I would of got a ~200m2 smaller block for the same price, I wouldn't have to live near ratbags.

The tenants in question at the beginning of the thread are actually in jail at the moment (well at least one of them is) and we don't really hear much from them any more. But the local police have asked myself and the people I live with to be witnesses at a court case...

Beat them to it.

Go and beat the shit out of them on a weekly basis and steal everything.

BGC... Big Group of Cunts. No offence to your brother personally, or anyone on here who works for them!

Heard many horror stories of shonky builders and these guys stood out for me among the worst. Conversely though, my best mate built with BGC out in Byford 2yrs ago and was a relatively painless experience, just depends on the contractors you get I suppose.

At least the freeway/train line is a good divider between government owned land and nice suburbs across the other side. My sister built in Aubin Grove and it's a baller area.
