POLICE are hunting a gang of car thieves who held the owner of a vintage muscle car at gun point this morning before forcing him to sign transfer papers.

Up to seven men wearing balaclavas with head torches and armed with a handgun broke into a home on Phar Lap Rd in Wattle Grove at 4am this morning.

Acting Detective Sergeant Nicole Winstone said the home owner and a woman were forced at gunpoint to sign transfer papers by torchlight before handing over the keys to the 1967 Metallic blue Ford Mustang Coupe.

No one was hurt in the hold up.

A Tactical Response Group stormed a Bayswater factory at 8.40am in search of the vehicle and offenders.

The car was later found dumped across the road outside a mechanics warehouse.

Police located the vehicle using a covertly installed $399 tracking device.

Well there you go hey, Tracking system finally pays off , Smart person having it installed. Though if he wasnt cheap and got the $1000 model he could have killed the engine couple kms down the road.

finally good to see a stolen car thread recovered by an owner being smart,

hows the guys getting transfer papers though ..

Cool that they got it back...

Uncool that they have printed this guys address and security measures on the car!

NVRENUF 10-01-2011 10:22 PM

I could imagine the wife making him sell it anyway lol.

XT43 10-01-2011 10:23 PM

Lol at forced signing, cos that will make it all legit..

ImPreSiV 10-01-2011 10:24 PM

a car like that, you would store it somewhere more secure than the family home wouldn't you? get a storage place or something...

NVRENUF 10-01-2011 10:26 PM

doesn't matter where you keep it, if people are watching you they will know where you keep it.

Wasnt exactly a siege with no one in the building.

P.S the guy is a known drug dealer... who was forced to give a car up at gun point.

Im not putting 2 and 5 together, but I reckon I have an idea what it might be in relation to.
