Been a huge fan of punk/rock/ska/grunge since high school always wanted to learn guitar but I'm getting kinda too old to start learning now.

Chum you deep throat The Living End so your response was pretty standard. Ace does make a valid point. Pro muso's can replicate without issue, its the personality of the members that you deep throat that makes the difference. In 'most' cases your idol muso's aren't even that talented (across the board). IMHO.

Im into them atm as I go through phases when Im learning stuff on guitar. Atm Im trying to pick up some of Chris Cheneys jazzy punk rock style because theres a lot of cool stuff there (and no I'm not just some noobee trying to learn the intro to Prisoner of Society, most of its their lesser known stuff). I didnt really read Aces post, all I know is that I dont care what some dickhead tells me about music and whats good, bogan, commercial etc. I listen to what I want regardless of ANY external influence or the personality of the members of that band. The Living End also happens to be excellent live imo, (seen them a few times). I dont care if a band is well known or not, if they can have a jam then Ild see them anyday.

The living end are an awesome band. No doubts there. But i think if you go flicking through your local cd store they sell other stuff apart from them.

If you want some dick hardening riffs/solo stuff. Search john petrucci - glasgow kiss.
Saw this guy at a clinic a couple of years ago - mother fkr can play.

It makes closing in - tle seem like a warm up.
Their are plenty of great guitarists and bands out there.

If your looking for a jazz influence, look up some of tommy emmanuals stuff, classical gas at its finest.

Listen to some led zep - thats graas roots rock n roll - interesting riffs as well across different timing.

Yea man I've seen the G3 tour when they came a few years ago. Was Steve Vai, Petrucci and Joe Satriani ripping up! Finished with all them doing Voodoo Child slight return together! Haha I can play most of classical gas as it anyway, tommy emmanual is an awesome player although that acoustic classical gas is also claimed to be Clapton as well as Mason Williams re-recording an acoustic version of his original so who really knows which player that was.

I only mentioned living end once because of the rock/punk thing and again because they closed the footy show final which I though was awesome. After being a huge fan of virtuoso players such as Petrucci, malmsteen, vai, eric johnson etc I came to the opinion that despite all being fucking rediculous players that I was listening/watching them because of their skill and not their song writing ability. Would much rather listen to kurt cobain play about a girl acoustic than an entire steve vai crazy shredding album. But just my opinion.

BOSS!
