Haven't watched either a second time to confirm but I'm sure in the last episode of last season or the Middle east special Jezza made mention of Tiff Needell's name in the same sentence as The Stig.

Can't believe it would be though. Tiff wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut!!!

They brought Tiff out of retirement as an emergency stig, as they had not found an official replacement at that point.

Watched the first episode of the new season last night. There are a few segments that they are outdoing things that Ben Collins mentioned he was proud of in his book. Subtle but still sticking it to the old stig.

Well worth the watch.

Who was the bloke who drove the 3l v8 kit car for James May against the motorbike?
I have not seen old episodes, I am confused.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tiff ends up being the Stig full time and they pull some sort of stunt to throw everyone off the track like have Tiff appear next to a "fake" Stig so everyone thinks it couldn't possibly be him. I think Jeremy and Tiff have wanted to work together again ever since the end of the original Top Gear but Tiff had already started Fifth Gear by the time Top Gear was put back on the air.

and no doubt tiff wants back on a high rating show, i don't really understand fifth gear (what are they trying to do with the show talk about cars or just put on minor shows for thier own amusement?)

Tiff is a great car tester and would work well on TG! and they can still claim that an F1 guy is the Stig as Tiff had a couple of races in F1!

But i wouldn't be supprised if Ben Collins was still in the fold!

Well they are 2 totally different types of shows. Fifth Gear is aimed more at car enthusiasts whereas Top Gear is a show aimed more at the mainstream viewer that even non car enthusiasts can watch and have a laugh at hence the celebrities and funny antics.

As for Ben Collins though, I think there is too much bad blood between him and the BBC for any kind of deal to be struck but stranger things have happened I suppose.
