As per my original post, a plane in that condition would probably fall out of the sky..

I knew it was bullshit as the Chinese are fairly serious about air safety these days and servicing planes, mrs cousin is an Aeromotive engineer working out of Pudong international airport (Shanghai) and is in charge of inspections and has told us there is no farking around when it comes to finding something that's not right and the plane is grounded immediately until fixed properly.

If found guilty of knowingly dodging up repairs the inspectors, mechanics and the company heads can expect long jail time and even the death penalty!!!

Should have done my homework before helping the spam mill.
I remember watching a doco a little while ago with the story of this on it. Amazing bit of flying by the pilot(s) to put this plane back on the ground without crashing in a big fireball.

I recall the DHL doco on Air Crash Investigations too. I never saw the aftermath though. Crazy!

i was warned to fly only Dragon Air when I was there, every pilot was an Aussie on the 4 or 5 internal flights I took.

Dragon Air, China air and a quite a few other are all a part of "ONE WORLD ALLIANCE" and "STAR ALLIANCE" which includes the likes of Cathay Pacific, Singapore Air, Air Hong Kong etc etc and Cathay/Dragon/China air was voted best airline in 2009 apparently.

I'm more worried flying within Australia than within China even on the small planes.
