Things to do in Auckland

Greetings, will be in Auckland this week and hopefully going to swing the weekend as well.

Besides base jumping off the tower next to the Crowne 'where I'm staying', what are some interesting/unique things to do and great restaurants/pubs/clubs to check out?

Leave.

Honestly, go north to Kerikeri & Russell.

Or south and visit Rotorua tourist traps.

Cheers Mitch, any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated, not really here long enough for a tour guide, unless she's hot.

Anything you recommend from the place you mentioned above?

Have to admit that from the restaurants we've hit up so far the food has been fantastic and cheap 'heaps of salmon dishes'.

Hang out with all the cuzzy-bro's and drink Lion Red all day. (Sweet az)

If you get the time also head out West and go mountain biking at Woodhill Forrest. You can hire a decent bike and there is some awesome tracks out that way..

Make sure you check out the West Coast Beaches... I reckon Piha Beach or Muriwai if your heading out to go mountain biking.

Piha

Plenty of good spots to stop and get lunch (vinyards etc).

If you can head out to Waihiki Island for a day trip (about 40 mins on the Ferry).

Pubs/Clubs.. depends what Genre you're into.

I usually frequent Red Bar.. Not a bad little spot.

Let me know how you go.

ausyve 14-03-2011 06:55 PM

Don't make eye contact when walking down Queen street.
Stay away from K road, especially after dark.
Head towards the bay of islands, eat sea food.
If its adventure you want, get a drink at any pub in Otara.

Hey Mitch, thanks for all the great info from all the above I would love to do the biking 'sounds awesome'. One thing I have to say is for the small amount of time I've been here 'so far 4 days', I've had salmon 4 different ways and it's been 4 different types of fucking FANTASTIC!!. The food here is beautiful and VERY cheap 'cross-comparison Perth WA'. Only complaints would be the cost of Taxi fairs and the bullshit price per ltr the locals have to pay.

Has been as high as $2.50ltr but averages around $2.15 per ltr for general unleaded. Apparently it's been caped at $2.15 per ltr in Christchurch due to the devastation 'heh generous'.

Factor in that at the same time diesel sells for around '$1.60-$1.70', it's a real eye opener re: the bs prices of petrol.

Will also try and checkout the other locations you've mentioned as the locations lo

Any additional info greatly appreciated Mitch.

Cheers,

Mark

ok beautiful*. Its also a little funny that the most condensed amount of NZ accents I've heard was at a Christchurch cafe' located in it's airport.
