Instrument Cluster (indicators) not working properly :S

Ladies/Gentlemen (majority gentlemen)

I require some help/advice/opinions on a problem I keep having with my car's instrument cluster (It's a MY01 Bug WRX)

The previous owner was an electronics engineer, and decided to change the display (the odometer and the indicators to blue lights) I don't have pictures, but the lights were green, they are now blue.

When indicating left, the indicator comes on as normal, but to indicate right, this is where the problem is. The indicator light seems to flash sometimes, not at all, or random flashes and flickers, which is quite annoying, because I can't see if the indicator is on or not....

I have ordered genuine Subaru replacement bulbs from Ozzy park, changed all the bulbs around to see if they are all working correctly, which they are, and still, it continues to flicker and not work correctly, I have tracked down the indicator relay, which seems to be working as per normal, and the physical indicators on the side of the car all flash in time (so it's not a bulb gone in one of them)

Any advice/opinions would be much appreciated, if anyone else is experiencing or has experienced a similar problem: post away :)

Cheers

Brett :D

Rip it out, put a JDM Version 8 STI one in :)

That is all.

HAHAH, appreciated, but I'm looking for an easy solution that doesn't involve replacing my whole cluster! :P thanks though

FYI You pay a premium for the normal bulbs from Subaru primarily due to the badge on the box.

They're normally just Hella Globes.

Its a 3 minute job to rip it out and put a replacement in. Probably about a $500 operation though including the price of setting reprogramming the ODO.

Nice upgrade but.

thanks, well i did search at many auto shops and could not find the exact ones I was after, so gave up and went to Subaru, is there somewhere that doesn't carry the Subaru price, that you can get these bulbs?

Cheers

Your actual stalk will be fucked. Worn or internal component cracked etc.

Swap for a known working one.

Just take the globe you want to replace into Coventry's/Super Cheap/Auto One etc.

Thats what I thought, dodgey switch ect, I have narrowed it down to that, or somewhere in the wiring...because also on the cluster, if i am at 100km/h and put my foot down, the speedometer "ticks" like jumps up to 110, 130, ect...so, i am guessing the guy who changed the bulbs may have stuffed the wiring or sensor somewhere as well :/

best place to get stalks? Jap wholesale? or?

Cheers lads :D
