Funny you mention that.....

If I was running group N then I would DEFINITELY buy this and you could buy my dash!

Reduces the homologated weight by 50kg's! Composite dash FTW!

There are two kits on their way to WA as we speak so I will have a look at them. Might be able to take some of the ideas and adapt to my car.

1480 kg with basically zero fuel but still with owners manual etc in the glove box. I would love to get it down to 13?? ready to go but realistically low 1400's is far more likely.

So Brendox, it's gonna be a pretty huge difference going from piloting a driving aid-free GC8 to a modern Evo. Are you disabling or replacing any electronic aids? Are you allowed to for the class you will run in at Targa High Country?
Basically we can run anything so long as it has a mitsubishi logo on it. In terms of driving aids they nearly all come out. We replace the front and rear diffs with lsd's, no booster or abs on the brakes. The only thing we really have is the active centre diff which was a major reason to upgrade to a new car.

Keen to watch this get built!

Apart from what you have said, can you fathom any reason for the lack of co operation from Subaru? It just doesn't make any sense to me not to promote the brand..

As for your GC8 I was lucky enough for you to take me for a spin in it around Barbs for a few laps after an WRX owners club day out there a number of years ago. Fucking awesome was the impression that was left on me which helped fuel my desire to get into it a whole heap more.

I think the impression you left on me is a far cry from the one I left on you

Good luck!

Good to see it underway Brendon. Should be a cracker of a car.

And as you have said, minimal electronic talent available in the RS model. You will definately be driving it.... specially with deboosted brakes. Start doing your squats.

Oh, and nice shopping list. Got all the stickers from the boxes to go down the front guards?

Best of luck getting it together for THC.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Except Jamie. He's a prick!

The thing that has bugged the shit out of me this whole build is how hard it has been to get solid information on what stuff weighs or whether this is a good option or not. Most people are stuck in the group N days but we dont have to pay the super premiums for parts that these guys have to pay because in a lot of cases we dont have to use homologated stuff. The other thing is the stupid premiums that retailers in Australia think they can charge for parts. In terms of what we have bought from overseas we have got the cage / suspension / seats / steering wheel / harnesses / monit / door cards / foot rests / fire bomb / brake rotors, calipers, handbrake / window vents all from overseas. TMR want $8k + freight for the ap rotors and calipers. I will have them landed, duty & gst paid for well under $4k for the same thing. The days of being able to charge silly money because you cant get it anywhere else are over.

I could have gone down the whole TMR road but I really wanted Reiger instead of Ohlins suspension and I wanted to be able to watch it being built and not have to fly over to Melbourne to check up on it.

Have you decided what you are going to be driving in yet?

Update: The car has been completely stripped and is off to the water blaster to get rid of all the seem sealer. Supposedly 20+ kg's of the crap to come out.

I will be back in Perth from Monday so I will get some photos.

The build time on this is that is has to be ready by the end of September so things should all come together pretty quickly.

Brendon
