Default Supercars in the Aussie Outback (56K beware)

This weekend just gone I flew over to Alice Springs to meet up with a few supercars (transported there on a truck) and their owners, same sort of idea as the previous times we went out there in 2005/6/7.

There are speed limits in place nowadays but we saw one cop the entire weekend, so there really isn’t much difference in how we drove.

I think we covered about 2000km in the 3 days of driving and saw some amazing sites along the way – Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, The Olgas and Kings Canyon. Different place/hotel every night so we covered quite a bit of ground.

The roads out there vary a little but for the most part they are amazing and make for some great high speed driving (see speedo shots below). I got a steer of the 458 and Superleg which was the highlight, but even just being passenger was sensational.

Enough talking, here are some pics – obviously not a photoshoot as it was more just snapshots of the road trip along the way but I think they turned out quite well.

Photos roughly in chronological order:

The 997 Turbo S was an absolute beast out there, 700Nm!

A 997 Turbo S in the middle of nowhere.

As we do every time we go to the NT we stopped at the famous Cannonball Run Memorial – the site of the F40 crash back in 1994.

These are a couple of photoshopped photo of the speedos in the LP570-4 and 458, as no laws were broken.

Arriving at the Rock in style…

The next morning we got up at 6am to go and attempt to climb Ayers Rock – something we failed to do previously. Proud to say that 3 of us made it to the very top, amazing view up there (didn’t take my DSLR up, only iPhone pics). We also visited the Olgas which are equally spectacular, before leaving for Kings Canyon after lunch.

continued....

The Kings Creek petrol station, always very welcoming and excited to see the cars.

Early rise on Monday morning to get back to Alice Springs

One of many fuel stops at Erldunda.

Who says a Lamborghini isn’t practical? My suitcase was a perfect fit behind the seat!

We thought we were alone out there, but we overtook this truck carrying 2 GT3 RS’s, a 599 and an R35.

We met up with the truck back in Alice Springs and got to work..
