Mitch I wouldn't use an i7 equipped pc to anywhere near its potential, and blueray media is more expensive then HDD's.

I cant see anyone ever using the i7 to its full potential. My quad-core clocked to 3.5ghz is more than enough for anything thats out today. The hype is unbelievable, what software package uses 8 cores?? And if there is such software, who are likely to use it?? Scientists?

I've got two 6950s in crossfire and haven't had any issues yet. Runs BC2 great at 2560x1440.

Can't complain about the i7 either, seems to run stable at 4.5 GHz with the d14 cooler. Although if you are just gaming I would recommend the i5, because in most games it runs about the sam as the i7.

Also, SSDs are a must these days. Once you have one you will never turn back.

Give it two weeks and it will be too slow to run anything

I remember our first computer; the guy said "It has a 4.3Gb harddrive, you will never fill that up!"

I have a couple of mates in oil gas 3D visualisation industry - they'll easily max out an i7 at work.

Yeah SSD is a must. I just got one recently with SATA 3. Thats wat i mean abt i7's, no one typical will utilise its full potential. I know someone whos an architect and he maxes out his i7. but ordinary people wont likely max it out. soon 16cores are gonna be released i heard.
