A way of transfering money to international bank account

Guys,

Is there a way of transferring money to an international bank account and get someone local to authorise the transfer if the conditions have been met.

i,e when buying something substantial such as a car. Could the money be transferred to the sellers bank account but only authorised when someone (friend) goes to the bank and okays it.. ??

any thoughts??

Which country?

You can do a LC -- Letter of credit through the bank.

trainwrex 15-12-2011 11:21 PM

England would be the country...

Its just a safe way of transferring large sums of cash i was thinking..

Any more info to this Mao??

Best bet is for the friend to OK the car, then do an IMT, international Money Transfer, depending on which Bank, and their relationship between your Bank, and any Banks in between can take 24hrs, to a week if there are poor relations.

Have a look at moneybookers.com

PayPay might be your cheapest-easiest option provided they have an account which links their e-mail address to an account it's pretty much instant, it's the only way I could send money to a friend in China without mass complications. You just send the money to their email account and they transfer it to their bank account, possibly protected too, I'd phone them to check first obviously but on the couple of times I've called them from both here & o/s they have been really helpful.

yes but when money is sent then i cant get it back.. but if i can do it an alternative way that the third party can receive the car or make sure its sent then this would be a safe alternative..

How good friend are we talking ? Trust enough to transfer the money to him, if all ok with car, he hands over the cash to person selling car and friend takes ownership of car and makes sure shipping is organised ie he does it ?

Western Union.. the safest way to transfer money to Nigerians over the internet.

Arrange for seller to get bank account with SWIFT code. SWIFT for Banks

Get mate to check car - all good. Transfer funds to account.

We transfer funds using SWIFT and not an issue yet.

Kato 16-12-2011 11:39 AM

I'm guessing it's not the transfer of the money that is the issue, it's making sure you get the product/car.

Seems like you need a broker or inspector on the ground. Maybe give one of the international shipping guys like Mitch or Bryan a call to see if they know someone who can do the deal for you?

Strubaru 16-12-2011 12:03 PM

return plane ticket FTW, alot can be said for pre-purchase test drive, experienced this quite a bit in the last few weeks in my search for a track car, looks great on paper & in pics but jump in a drive and they turn out to be total pigs... just my 2c tino ;)

DAN682 16-12-2011 12:21 PM

Could you just not use a reputable escrow agency? You give them the cash, they notify the vendor that the cash is theirs as long as conditions are met, your mate gives you the OK, Escrow releases.

Winning?

+1 on return plane ticket

Kato hit the nail on the head.. I want to make sure i get product which im ceratin 99% that i will if i went ahead as it is a company and not individual seller..

I know how the car drives, so to me there is not a need to go half way around the world to inspect it if i have someone that is mechanically reasonable to look at it in the same country..

I will also need to organise some shipping... im assuming it will be put into a container and sealed up nicely...
