I agree with the article in some ways - as it is pretty dangerous on there when there is cars, bikes and pedestrians on the road.
Having gone on a few cruises down the ZZ (during the day mind you) I can attest to the fact that it isn't just a slow pace the whole way.

I think its pretty stupid how people do burnouts etc up there though.

Couple of things I'd suggest;

Speed bumps
Closure of the ZZ at night (although I used to take girls there back in my heyday! haha)
Surveillance/Patrols

Yes, the above things would somewhat ruin some aspects of the ZZ, and it's unfortunate, but that's what its getting to I guess.

Ahh many a night have I heard burnouts from that place and the occasional oops I managed to crash into something

If they do close off the ZZ, I hope that the council would be willing to have them opened from time to time for special occasions/annual cruises.

It would be easier if they put ramps and targets instead? Gives the drivers something to aim for.

Problem with this is now police take cruise notification for direct access to cars and media coverage of how their crack police work led them to the fines.

It would be nice to get some good media coverage for once

i live very close to the zig-zag and my nan lives a few hundred metres from the start of the zig-zag. every few nights burnouts cant often be heard.

i also know several of my mates have got fines for smoking weed there

it would be a shame if they closed it because ive gotten laid there so many times but i understand why they would.
