OK, this is a pretty stupid question.. but... i was given a "please pay cash" cheque today from a business... the cheque is from Westpac, but i bank with CBA. Am I able to take the cheque into a CBA branch and get them to put it into my account?

either way I will need to find a branch that opens saturday to do it, as i'd like to cash in my account ASAP (so i can buy stuff this weekend).

the cheque wont clear by this weekend dude - i stand to be corrected tho

if you go to the westpac where the cheque book is issued from and you present the cheque they will pay you cash

If you go anywhere else you will have to deposit the cheque and wait for it to clear

OK thanks, the other problem is that the cheque is for several thousand dollars... which I am told they are unlikely to have readily available to hand over at the bank.

So maybe they will issue a bank cheque which I can deposit at my own account?

Doesn't need to be the same westpac branch, they should be able to cash it of you can get to one that is open tomorrow

Will they cash it if its several thousand dollars?? If not would they issue me a bank cheque that i could take to CBA to cash?
