Depends what you are after. IMO cleats allow for a much better pedal action and make riding a bit easier & smoother(:
But yeah it also does mean of you are going to crash there isn't much you can do about it...

If anyones is keen to get a small group going, possibly meet around 6 Saturday mornings, bell tower to do an easy river loop ending at cars + coffee around 7-7:30 @ velvet?

I refuse to do group rides in lycra that result in ending up in a coffee shop. If my bosses found out, I'd never live it down. It's already bad enough I own lycra and frequent a coffee shop... not mixing the 2

I wear the Alpinestar mountain bike shorts? Not as aero as the lycra but imo look a little better at coffee shop meets!

Fair enough if you dont want to roll up to cars + coffee in lycra- just throwing some ideas around...
maybe Sundays would work better & bet at a bit less rank time of the morning?

Just chuck some other clothes in the car, maybe some shorts you can put over the top.

I usually wear gym shorts over my lycra, not exactly aerodynamic, but 80% less gay.

Yeah I wear boardies over mine most of the time too.. Lycra is for comfort / padding, not for speed!
