Default Procedure of bringing a car from over east to licence

Hi guys,

What is the normal procedure in terms of licensing a second hand car from over east?

What would i need to provide?
Does the car need to be inspected?

Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

car will have plates and be regeod in sydney. So has valid registration can it be driven without permit?

Can the buyer go over to sydney and register car in their name to claim a cheaper stamp duty?

Which licenising inspection centre is good?

i was actually wondering about this the other day and i came across something that said you needed a mailing address in the local state ? Wouldnt it be easier to hire a post box somewhere and have mail delivered to that for rego purposes in an attempt to skip a run over the pits here ? After a year of ownership i heard you can transfer rego to new state with no inspection.

All of the above is hearsay and i have no idea if any is true but it would be nice if someone could clarify.
