GoPro HD2 - info required

This isn't a group buy thread :)

Got myself a motorsport edition, however i find it very annoying how you cannot line it up as there is no preview of what you're actually recording.

I know you can purchase LCD screen seperately however for those who used it: if I buy wifi bacpac + remote apparently I'm supposed to be able to preview it on my smart phone (hopefully that also means android).

Has anyone used this feature?? any good? I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone as remote would be great and previewing on a phone could work too. Dont really want to buy LCD AND wifi bacpac+remote.

I've only got the LCD backpack. Didn't know about the wifi thing, sounds cool though.

LCD works a treat as it becomes a 'normal' video camera then.

Got a "normal" gopro about a year ago, its such a wide angle lens as long as you point in the general direction you'll be pretty close, and on that, as its a wide angle lens you need to be fairly close to the subject your after.

Also very interested in this if anyone has any information.

For what it's worth, I have the LCD screen attached to mine, only problem I have is battery Life. The only downside I can see to the WiFi is that it will take the backpack position of the LCD.

On further reading it says they are still waiting for approval for this to be certified in Australia, so they won't ship it here. I imagine it would be something to do with The iphone or android app.

pete gopal 16-07-2012 01:52 PM

the idea is that this would replace LCD (in a way) and provide the remote button functionality.

they wont ship the combo or just the app isn't certified?

Going off the information on the website, I'd say the app isn't certified yet. As the app is available in the states as well is the WiFi go pro backpack. You could only assume?

Don't get me wrong I think the idea is brilliant i.e when I surf the go pro is on the back of the board, as the moment it's leave the go pro running for the entire duration of the surf because I can't be bothered getting off my board between waves and turning it on and off.

dont need those things
just do as what Jeckle said and point in the direct you want it and you should see that position plus 170deg FOV or what ever it is

And I would got for the HD1 and the HD2 is no improvement imo or not enough to warrant such high price

I intend to get the wifi bacpac + remote once stocks arrived for the same reason you mentioned.
