EVO IX tarmac build
Thought I may as well post up some build pics of my IX, have been a bit strapped for time as work has become a bit more of a priority, not too far from finished.
Car started life as a EVO IX GSR, was a nice base to start with, no accident damage. Car was then stripped to a bare shell and water blasted the same a Brendon's car so all seam sealer and sound deadener removed. All unnecessary brakets, seat rails etc removed Custom Cages T45 chromoly cage TIG'd in Car back on the rotisserie at the paint shop. Car back ready for assembly

And where we are now
1/2 the door trims done Still need to finish some small items and run in the new motor then it is off to B reg. |
Nice job mate. A lot of hours put in in your own garage too.
Keen to see you out and about in it! |
Mate really looking forward to driving it in anger, been too long since the last event.

Awesome, well done. :icon_thum

I am not going to worry about b regging mine until the new rules come in. For the literally two or three times a year you drive it on the road it still costs you $600 / year. Also you have to pay stamp duty on the purchase price.
In the scheme of things it is not massive but still a cost. Brendon |
Another EVO build on Perth-WRX. Not complaining!! Frequently tempting me to the dark side.
What's your reason for choosing the IX over another EVO model/year, Dino? Great looking job, by the way. And what a cage! |
Alex, the IX's are now becoming good value, mine was $23k (unreg) with all the usual mod bits like Defi's, Teins, intake etc that I sold off.
The CT9A platform (EVO7-9) has now been around awhile so parts both OEM and aftermarket are plentiful, the CT9A is also pretty good performance wise. The purchase price is a small part (relatively) of the overall build though so in my opinion start with the latest and best you can afford as it costs the same to cage a GC8 as it does a current Spec C. Brendon
Brendon, I do the RAC sprints and other local events so I need to drive to and from. Do agree though that full rego and stamp duty on a car that is allowed for limited use on the road is a piss take. |
^did mivec have anything to do with your decision?
Nice work! |
