10 second smoke law

I had someone report me about my car apparently smoking for more then 10 seconds, which it doesn't, it was just first thing in the morning. Has anyone come across this before?

I got a letter from the Dec asking if I have a smoking engine. I can answer no but want to know if its goes further.

I don't want to have to go over the pits because of someone's complaints, which is bullshit.

Cheers adam

Send a reply

"Dear sir/madam who looks like a sir,

I own a highly engineered car which is maintained to a standard exceeding the manufacturer's standard. Any emission from the rear of the car in the middle of winter will simply be condensation as the car warms it. It is not smoke or fuel emissions. Whoever has submitted this complaint obviously lacks fundamental education about vehicles, and I would suggest you tell them not to waste your time.

Regards,

Niggas in Paris"

Rossco 08-08-2012 09:09 PM

This crap:

CleanRun - Department of Environment and Conservation

"A review of the smoky vehicle reporting program identified that it could also be used as a tool to help recruit vehicles for emissions testing. The reporting program is currently being revised to engage a greater number of people and to adopt a firmer enforcement approach for those vehicles that receive multiple reports."

GTFO........"Recruit" makes it sound voluntary......

What I got in the mail from the dept of environment and conservation is titled.

"Smoky vehicle emissions and the 10 second rule"

Edit: yep that's it rossco

It's bollocks

I'd reply with, "I believe the smoke in question was from my tyres, not my exhaust."

Strubaru 08-08-2012 10:44 PM

do you let your car just sit there warming up 5min every morning?

Avalanche 08-08-2012 10:56 PM

Yeah I do for about 5mins
