Oral Surgeon Required!!

Well after putting up with a lot of pain these past couple weeks i finally decided to suck it up and make a dental appointment, unfortunately after a thorough exam the news they gave me isnt great, turns out it is my wisdom teeth causing the issues and even though its only one giving me greif, they've recommended i remove all 4 as she feels at some stage they are all going to give me trouble, apparently there isn't enough room for them to come through:(
So yeh, she 's given me a list of oral surgeons and told me to just ring any of them, but i thought before i do that maybe someone on here went through the same thing and might be able to recommend someone?, also cost wise, does anyone know what i'd be looking at? I have insurance however it doesnt cover major dental for another 9 months so that sucks. I figure its going to cost a bit as she said they will remove all 4 at once under general anaesthetic, any advice appreciated :o

I had mine done at a day sergeons in Tuart Hill. Ian Rosenbergh I think was his name, all up was about $2400 and that was about 5 years ago...

Wow $2400!! That sucks lol, although tbh wasnt too far off what i was expecting, how was your recovery? Must of been pretty unpleasant for the first few days

I had all four of mine removed in the chair. Mine were impacted with hook roots, didn't have any issues with pain or anything they gave me plenty of local and lignocaine. got the ones on the left taken out about 6 months before the ones on the right. Much better to get one side removed at a time so you can still eat, open your mouth etc.

Good advice, i will definately bring that up on my consultation regarding doing the 2 on one side first instead of all 4 in one hit, i was told my bottom ones were also impacted

Sometimes it makes me wonder if these dentist get a cut when they "refer" you to these Specialist surgeons, when the procedure can be done in chair at a dentist...

If I was to go through this again and told to see a Surgeon I would get a second opinion from another Dentist...

Haha nice Teejay, do you think hbf would still refund me 40% of that $100 :p
Levans- i could always get another opinion i suppose, though i've going to this dentist for years so i do trust their opinion

Had all 4 done by Rosenberg while under, bit of swelling and similar ball park price figure.

Would go with him if you could...
