Help me choose an Oven :(

Hey folks,

After a near death experience with a gas-leak last night (and i mean very near-death) it's time to get a new overn/cook top. I've been looking around harvey norman, kambo's and the usual suspects but there is so much choice and the range of pricing is so varied i'm struggling to work out whats good value for money, and isn't a pile of crap.

The oven needs to be free-standing, 900mm wide and ideally gas cooktop with Electric oven. My current Tecknica is a complete piece of trash which takes an eternity to cook anything in the oven.. the buttons are all worn away, and its about 10 years old...

Would love for anyone who works in selling stuff like this coule give me some direction on what's a good brand etc. Also, if any of them could incorporate a shut off valve for the gas for when i close the lid etc - that would be great :)

Thanks in advance.

La Germania 900mm ovens have always been good to me, but I think there is a distribution issue currently in Australia, which means they're not easy to get. Our last one went 9 years and we replaced it because it was looking tatty.

We fitted a Delonghi 900mm in our kitchen at work to replace it. 2 years old and gets hammered, has not missed a beat.

Ilve is what I'll probably be getting for my place when its built, but god damn they're expensive.

I am in the same boat...just bought a place in North Perth and the oven is partly rusted out

The house i recently built has Technika oven and hot-plates - the oven never worked from new and they had to send out someone to repair it...after that something went wrong with the thermostat and it ended up cremating a couple of what would have been nice roasts.

I would personally avoid that brand..but its a case of you get what you pay for and they are cheap...
