Apple Mac Book Pro Laptops
 

Has anyone had any experience with the new intel powered apple Mac Book Pro laptops?

Looking at getting one for work / uni and just did not know how they were going seeing as they are so new.

I dont want this thread to turn into an apple v ibm debate so please stay on topic.

I have had a play with one and I am TOTALLY impressed, I have a mac mini at the moment and cant wait to get a 15.4 2.0 duo

I got an email today, they now make 13" models for $1100 or something

i am a true and true PC user. i swore never to even think about ever switching to an Apple platform. i tried one at the Apple shop 2 weeks back. i am having massive doubts abt my allegence to the PC. i tried the iBook then the Pro version. so simple to use, everything intuitive. its well worth switching sides even if you have to relearn some of the stuff.

yer definitely the apple is the strongest platform out there not only for there hardware that is only minimally exceed in that area its the software area where they are incredible.... go the mac!

I havent tried this yet as I dont yet own an Intel Mac, but this new system allows you to run either OSX or Windows XP on your Mac. A nice way to gently convert some people.

Sorry cant give any more feedback on the new system, but have experienced very few dramas over the years with the Macs so I'm sure it will be as good as ever.

I think the macbook pros are excellent ... just an absolute world better than anything dell or toshiba has ... and heaps better than the sonys, which were my favourites.

I'm also really impressed with the new macbooks ... and im pretty sure i'm going to snap one up after i've had a look at one in the flesh. Very impressive spec for the $$ .. and mac os x is utterly amazing compared to windows.

And it's good that you can run windows and macos on these now with bootcamp, too.

I am thinking of replacing my desktop with one of the 17" jobs. Student pricing is about $3850. The portability would be nice but is by no means imperative. I live like 50metres from my office and have a desktop at home. I love my 19'' monitors and dont really want to step down. The main programs that I use are Word, Excel, Access and Microsoft Project. I can get them all for the apple so that is not an issue. I dont do any graphics at all.

What is the backup like on them?

I might be tempted to get one for my next PC, especially considering I can run XP on it ;)

once you go mac you never go back :p

i bought an ibook last year and would never buy a windows pc again, mum and dad both use windows laptops, but they have seen mine and now they are converts too, there next laptops will be apple.

i'm just waiting for tax cheque time then i'll go and get a black macbook
