HTC has the better UI... Galaxy Camera produces better results as far as I have seen.

Didn't say they were alike. I said they were both disappointing.

I expected the HTC to feel like a premium phone, which it didn't.

I expected the S4 to blow me away with the speed and features, it didn't either.

Different phones, different expectations and neither lived up to the hype in the internet/media.

Indeed, there always has to be one. Keen to hold the One without the security cable which might change things.

I'm already running JB 4.2.2 (cyanogenmod) on my S2 so not worth switching until 5 comes out.

Thread bump:

ok so long story short destroyed a couple of phones now i need a new one. What should i be looking at/what have you liked/disliked? My thoughts were Galaxy S4, HTC one, Nexus 5... ???

Ive had a Galaxy S1(liked but slow by current standards now) & S3(Favorite once i put a custom rom on it), Motorola razr HD (not bad/not brilliant) and currently borrowing an iPhone 4 (once again not bad/not brilliant)

The new Razr is actually an awesome bit of kit.

I am close to upgrading again -

Will either be

New Razr (huge camera improvement, only let down to an otherwise amazing phone)
or Sony Z1
