I came across this the other day, it took me a while to figure out what it was, so I took a pic.

Sure it is pretty dirty, and the shock looks a bit leaky, but what is the silver thing?

I noticed it while servicing at the Forest rally, and yep, that is a bit of stick above the silver thingo.
But what is it?

Looks like it is embedded with a piece of wood or a branch.
Perhaps some one has driven over something and the end got stuck?

Pic is of the front left. Stick is embedded into a seam in the wheel arch. Silver bit is part of the car.
We have old 50mm DMS all around.
