Really? I thought because it wasn't outside the existing footprint it was ok? If permits are going to be involved I may as well get an architect in to build me a decent mancave on the side and do it properly!

... and there goes $20k LOL

a decent bricky should be in cahoots with a drafty that could knock this out in a few hours, have done it myself for a mate who bricked in an alfreso area turning it into a games room

before you ask, i'm sorry but i don't do this sort of stuff anymore (time poor, too busy at work) but yeah, i'm a structural drafty

Cool, well thanks for your advice guys. Knew there would be some knowledgeable folk on here

Curious though, what is the difference between an architect and a 'drafty'? Not used to Australian terms just yet! (P.s my only knowledge of architects comes from How I Met your Mother

architects design how the building looks
architectural drafty draws up detailed plans of how it should look, specify asthetic materials etc
engineers get the architects drawings & design the building to stand up through use of structural members (beams/columns/slabs etc)
structural drafty conveys this information into drawings (plans/elevations/sections/details) so it can be built by the trades

bottom of the food chain for me LOL

Ah, a lot more people in the process than I realised! So does a Structural drafty work his way up the list? Or are they separate professions etc?

For a cashy expect to pay between $1 - $1.30 per brick/plus materials depending on how well you know the bricky.

Hell yeah to the man cave, do it once and do it properly and it will add value to your home, and then you will have no issues at resale time. I have heard of people at home opens dobbing in the sellers for spas and pools with no fence etc... stupid fucks.

If you don't need them, and someone else reading this needs 200 new/clean house bricks, drop me a PM. They're free.
Do you still have the bricks? I'm interested in taking them if still avail.
