Hard drive video camera
Im looking into buying a hard drive recordable video camera. One of its uses will be for incar footage from race events and the like. BUT i've noticed they have a built in g sensor that disables the camera when its breached. anyone used one in such an application? Any problems? Any recommendations?
thanks Jme |

Do you use it as an incar camera in a competition environment like MC motorsports etc?

i used it at WAW one night and it worked taped to my roof next to the rear view mirror.

Yeah ok, i need to compare to something with more G's in it, i.e. corner speed, sideways action etc....thanks tho.

Jme I was going to buy one of these cameras for similar things, plus my euro trip etc.
The sensor is designed to disable the needle on the hard drive when a drop is detected as most damage happens to HDDs when they are moved suddenly with the pin engaged. SO efectivley you would need to move the camera in a different direction at about the acceleration of gravity 9.8m/s2 or similar. So a hard launch may set off the sensor. What I would recomend is the Sony HDRHC3, the camera I just purchased. It is a 1080i High def camera which the HDD is not. It also has a flash for 4M pixel photos and a sweet slow motion setting. It also does night vision so at drag etc you don't need a light on or crap like that, works really well, Paris Hilton styles. |
im about to buy one as well i was looking at the JVC 20 gig and JVC 30 gig.
so far i have managed to find the 20 gig for around the $800 mark.. havnt had a chance to go out and look into it more. yet |
