GC 6 speed swap, driveway edition commences tomorrow. Only some 18 months after turning the fiver into a change purse.

Figured reviving a thread might be a welcome change from having nothing but RSS news posts the only thing in the new posts page.

I could update my driveway thread, seeing I think I have one, but eh...

Pretty successful day today, pulled the sump off to install a Killer B oil pickup, replaced engine mounts with group N mounts, which was pretty easy with the box out. Removed rear differential front member to replace bushes with new HD bushes, R180 rear diff has gone in, along with the R180 hubs, reassembled parking brake mechanism with new shoes, which were a prick to source admittedly, new pink STI rear trailing arms, brembos were pulled apart, resealed and painted, which are also now fitted. Hopefully I’ll get the chance tomorrow or the next to install the six speed flywheel, clutch plate, etc, before getting the box in hopefully before the week is out.

The blue GC had its maiden sixth gear voyage today. Very happy with the results of the driveway build. Took a little longer than expected in part due to the rain and the fact that there’s too many Datsuns in the garage to work indoors, so only been plodding about in dry weather. It has dust from 2016 still on it, so after I’ve given it a clean I’ll get some photos and update my thread with all the things now done to it.
