My New Ride!

My new ride, literally, you actually ride this thing. (Although I thought it would perfectly suit the "show us your ride" thread, I decided not to as it is not a Subaru)

Just picked my new beast up today. Brand new BMW HP4 #4691.
I know most of you won't know much about motorcycles, so here are a few stats for it.

1000cc (technically 999cc)
143KW + 112NM @ 14,200RPM
169KG Dry Weight, 199KG Fully Fuelled.
4 Adjustable riding modes.
DDC (Dynamic Damping Control, adjusted the suspension automatically as you're riding it)
Full Titanium Akrapovic exhaust with Carbon Fibre/Titanium Muffler.
Launch Control
Race ABS
DTC (Dynamic Traction Control)
Quickshifter (Clutchless shifting during throttle application)
Dual Monoblock Brembo Brakes on the front, single on the rear.
More carbon fibre than you can poke a stick at.

Now for a few photos, I even included the WRX in some of them just to keep the non bike lovers happy.

Very nice! Makes the WRX feel like a milk float now eh?
Very nice! Makes the WRX feel like a milk float now eh?
It certainly does, to say the least. Although the power delivery on this thing is incredibly smooth! However, it is rev limited to 9,000rpm for the first 1000kms for engine run in, so I haven't been anywhere near powerband yet...

Fastest superbike in the world - Very Nice!

mARC 11-06-2014 08:06 PM

What's the rationale behind the headlight set up?

Philbo 11-06-2014 08:10 PM

Too late I fapped :/

Epic buy very Jelly !
What's the rationale behind the headlight set up?
Well, all BMW bikes are not symmetrical. Not only the headlights, both side panels on this bike are also completely different, the right side has "gills" the left side has a triangle shape.

DukeDrifter 11-06-2014 08:21 PM

That rear tyre looks like it'll be fun in the wet....
That rear tyre looks like it'll be fun in the wet....
Nothing is fun in the wet on bikes...
Yeah, that's what happens when the tyres are brand new and haven't been worn in at all yet. Quite a soft compound though in these Pirrelli Supercorsa tyres though so shouldn't take too long. Nice fat 200/55/17 rear tyre probably won't be very helpful in the wet, but it certainly will be in the dry!

Straner 11-06-2014 09:45 PM

looks smick as! congrats!

i like how your pants are colour-coded too.

You may have. Not sure if mine arrived that day or on Monday though. I can tell you that it was a bloody long wait for it. Ordered the bike on the 14th Feb, as a valentines day present to myself obviously since no girls were keen to do that for me hahaha. The wait almost killed me with anticipation!

Beautiful bike, nice pickup!
Nice fat 200/55/17 rear tyre probably won't be very helpful in the wet, but it certainly will be in the dry!
The 240 wide tyre my Diavel has is fine in the wet, so the 200 on that should be ok!

Good to see one of these win the TT last week, fast bit of kit!

Thanks. Rides nicely but i need to get used to the supersport seating position since i've only ridden a cbr500r before this... Generates a fuck load more heat than my 500 too!
Ah so it must be you as fatboy that i've seen on the perth street bikes forum? Was never sure if you were the same guy haha.
ohhh very pretty! you coming out on the LNR tonight?
Nope, i'm yet to go on any of those rides yet actually. As stupid as this sounds, would actually need an R class shadow with me anyway for the ride. I ride my 500 with just other mates and stuff but yeah my dad shadows me with the hp4

Haha, nothing wrong with a 200hp lams bike lol

I actually did my 250 licence on a CBR1000RR (before they brought in the impound laws)

TBH with traction and ABS the only thing that can really go wrong is brain fade and stupidity, bike don't bite hard these days unlike a 1999 R1 did!

T R3X 12-06-2014 03:10 PM

Haha nah I have my "250 license" or R-E haha so that means it's learners for R class. Only one way to learn for R class and that's to ride an R class bike. No point in getting something I don't want just to learn on when I already know how to actually ride, it's just getting used to the power etc. Believe it or not this is one of the easiest R class bikes to ride also despite the 200hp!

The anti-wheelie mode also helps. So yeah it's actually probably one of the safest to try the bigger bikes on.

jzn14 12-06-2014 10:49 PM

Very nice mate I'm a bike person as well I really like the look of these bikes except for the front headlight set up glad to see you with all the right riding gear. Oh there bloody fast too unless your subie is pullin flat 10's on the street don't embarrass yourself against one of these.

matto20v 18-01-2015 10:34 PM

I just don't get bikes. Theyre fckn dangerous as you got no protection. Most khunts who crash end up dead. The pic posted a few posts backs up there.... it looks like a hunch back or something. I just cant see the attraction.

Rslib72 18-01-2015 11:40 PM

Yep your right mate no protection I'm 43 have been riding bikes since 8 have given them up certains periods of my kid lives when I thought it's just to dangerous. In saying that I'm a postie for a living so i am on a bike 4-6 hrs everyday. The attraction well yes the Accelaration but for me I am totally focused when I am the bike I think about nothing else it's quite zen like for me oh I'm not into Harley's either anyway they don't like full face helmets wrecks the image I would prefer to give my face a chance in a accident.

Until you've ridden one, you'll never understand the sensation... I'm not saying that you haven't, but if you have, maybe it just isn't for you.

Viper76 20-01-2015 08:24 PM

Go through the basin on a motorbike at a decent speed and you won't be able to wipe the grin from your face [emoji2]

Wildbill 21-01-2015 08:12 AM

makes my Honda ST1300 look very slow, would love the bike if I could fit.!
love riding my bike only in the dry. call me soft cock, but I know my limitations, but not those of the wanker behind the wheel of the car. plus the road is a bit hard.
