I was in Germany last mth and I stubbled across the Mustang release at the Munich Airport where Ford had a large display and the Focus RS was there, looks pretty good..

Numbers confirmed today by Ford:

247 KW and 440NM (same torque as the current RS) but 470NM on overboost.

That's some pretty impressive numbers I imagine that's not at the wheels for power output?
Looks good too reminds more of the old glory days of the old escort cosworth I could easily live with one of those...

Is that official from Ford? The one I seen had slightly less power than that..

The mustang has about 325hp. The RS lifted the output to 345hp. Not bad but nowhere near enough to justify wearing an RS badge.

Looks are boring. No flares, no bonnet bulges or vents. Other than the wing and front bar it looks like the same car that your grandma would drive.

The old RS looked cool but front wheel drive held it back. Now they get the engine and driveline but they dropped the looks in order to make it a world car. Shame.

Good thing will be that the U.S. and UK guys will go to town on it and extract some more performance.

Old RS IS cool looking...so clearly you can buy mine when it goes up for sale next year!

Front wheel drive held it back? ...have you actually driven one? That's what I thought until I bought one...

The line from Ford about making it wide body like the MkII was that it would have been a very costly exercise (especially because it is a five door)...and to keep the price sharp, they spent money on the AWD system instead. But it clearly still looks better than the current STI, or Golf R which will be its price competitors it would seem.

The figures are official Ford ones...engine power, not ATW. And yes I'm sure there will be a Mountune powre upgrade out for it probably even before it goes on sale.

But if you're after more power you could go for the A45 AMG...but you will be paying close to $90K...or more if you choose the CLA.
