Default Mazda 3 MPS TURBO

Just had a ride in one of these and was quite impressed! Apart from the serious lag, it was quite a good ride. 190kw@5500rpm and 380nm@3000rpm.

With max torque at 3000rpm how can it be laggy? Was it an auto?

Geeez, those specs are pretty close to my 02 STi...can't wait to line up against one on the road.

Nah mate manual, they are just factory specs though. Not always what the car actually outputs.

I think they fell short of the mark. What a waste if it is only front wheel drive.

I wouldnt underestimate today's FWD technology too quickly. I was of the same mind but having driven a few late model fwd vehicles with power to boot, you wont find any limits in handling or power as you might think. Its great that hot hatches are back, it has been a good 15 years since the last lot were on the market.

I agree. But as Explicit said, the FWD turbos hitting the market do
go hard. But for me I love being able to put more power to the
road through 4 wheels. Especially in the wet.

There is a guy at work with an XR6 turbo and I always take great
delight in pointing out 2 very important points.
1. It doesn't matter how may kw's your engine has if you can't get it to the
road coz its 2 wheel drive. and...
2. A non-turbo corolla has the same number of kw's per litre as
his XR6-turbo. 60kw per litre.
