I just had another look, looks like he might have been running on a broken/sprained ankle, check the way his left leg twists at 31sec then go back to 17sec where it drags when he takes off then hops when he catches the car lol.

I doubt it, you couldnt sprint after it like that without a limp if you sprain/break your ankle.
Good raceboots have alot of grip, especially on bitumen, sideways load on the boot there would have meant it wouldn't have slid at all on the bitumen.
