Boardshorts usually have a loop of string for such situations. I've always taken my key into the ocean...for years and years. either in my legrope, boardshorts or wettie pouch. Just make sure it's very dry before you put it in the door and give it a rub with an oily rag once in a while.

Maybe you could use one of those for your keys? It is a soft plastic, Just roll it up and put it in your pocket (Make sure pocket has a zip enclosure) |
