We open the doors at 8.30 but theres always some one else there for preparation .Just tap the window and show him the keys.

fobz 23-11-2006 10:44 PM

Hee hee... You need an ezitrak.

1. Leave keys in car (Hidden)
2. Lock doors.
3. Got have a swim.
4. When done go to payphone.
5. Ring car (yes you will need a couple of bucks).
6. Enter passcode and use menu to unlock doors.
7. Drive home.

Mat 23-11-2006 11:12 PM

Put em in ya shoes! I bet the theives wouldnt know that :D

One of my (pet) suppliers is introducing those water proof key / phone holders but i dont know how we'll i'd trust them. I think ours are mainly uintended for dog beach type of stuff where your not putting lots of stress on them like you would bodyboarding et al!

Fozzy 23-11-2006 11:24 PM

What i did was get a blank unbranded key. got it cut for the doors.. that way you lock your good keys in and leave the blank in a shoe...

Someone trying a key in heaps of locks will look suss

Shinobiken 24-11-2006 12:56 AM

clip it onto ya german sheppard's collar and have him chained onto a pole under a beach umbrella.

COUCHY 24-11-2006 01:40 AM

easy, get some eles to drive not ur keys to be waried about if get lost or stolen

Köura 24-11-2006 07:15 AM

Boardshorts usually have a loop of string for such situations. I've always taken my key into the ocean...for years and years. either in my legrope, boardshorts or wettie pouch. Just make sure it's very dry before you put it in the door and give it a rub with an oily rag once in a while.

NVRENUF 24-11-2006 07:24 AM

dont our keys have all that electronic stuff inside them would the water damage that at all.

Mmm, yeah. I've got a MY00 so the keyless entry is a seperate unit which I take off.

Didn't think about that.

Garmin makes a waterproof Phone enclosure. I bought one for my mobile phone when I had my Jetski, It protected it from the water, however it didn't protect it from being smashed into 10000000 pieces when it was in the jetski's compartment.

Maybe you could use one of those for your keys? It is a soft plastic, Just roll it up and put it in your pocket (Make sure pocket has a zip enclosure)

My point was just drop your keys with the local or the direct across shops , well in cott theres the ice cream shop the deli the cott hotel etc etc .. unless other wise.

some interesting suggestions. In the past I just havent taken the rex to the beach, taken the escort and just stashed the keys...

I find stashing them somewhere works pretty well as long as no-one sees/knows which car they are for...i guess pretty hard if the beach is pretty packed..hmm.

NVRENUF 24-11-2006 07:01 PM

even the older 98 99 model keys which dont have keyless entery still have electronic chip inside the key which matchs up with the ecu dont they ?

1C3 24-11-2006 07:16 PM

when you get to the beach get chatty with some chicks that are there sun baking, then leave your stuff with them.

nice.

MKVIGTI 28-11-2006 06:07 AM

MY MY98 had a factory imoboliser. I'm sure it had a rolling code for the key (check in your handbook) so must have some sort of electronics. Reckon it would be fairly waterproof though unless opened a few times. The new ones with buttons I think would suffer pretty quick.

Köura 28-11-2006 09:12 AM

The Brant is the imobiliser and my key has a solid plastic base with nothing to open up. There's no electronics in it, but I don't discount the fact that the older pre-brant gc8's might have a chip.
