all you need to buy is a keyboard or mouse to qualify for OEM

Microsoft have changed the OEM conditions about 2 years ago. You can purchase any piece of Computer hardware be it a $5 mouse and even a Power Cable thats right a $2 power cable and that is fine for us (Storm) to sell OEM copies. We have had the Microsoft Rep in our store and explain this to us.

I had this issue come up at work the other day (MS rep told me the same thing). MS did change the rules... but they changed it from buying any bit of hardware 'integral to running a PC' (ie a power cable) to a fully assembled box. Basically if you don't put the licence key on the side of the box yourself, you're in breach of licensing.

This is how it works with Windows XP. Unless they have changed it with Vista (which I doubt) be very careful. Check with your boss, then check with MS. When you open the 3 pack OEM copy, read the bit of paper marked 'READ THIS FIRST'. I was amazed myself, but this is how it works now.

this will be on torrents shortly then ?

NVRENUF 27-01-2007 05:34 AM

i may be wrong but windows is getting a lot harder to do that with now. and being that a lot of it requires the internet and updates and general things like that, it will need a geniune code. but there is always someone who can do it i guess.

but im going to buy mine that way i have the support and all the updates etc etc etc
