It seems like a great idea, but as said, lets say I am pissing it up in Perth and want to get back to my house in Mandurah (and of course I am baller spec and can pay the money) how the hell do you get back to your origin?
EDIT: To all of the others saying $1.46 opposed to $2 per K, if you were to catch a chauffer service, lets say Prestige or Quayside, they charge you a SHITLOAD more than $2 per K and when it is all said and done, you are in a Caprice or if there are more than 4 a Tarago, so it represents half decent money to me regardless of this company driving your car. |

Skippers follow you in another car, guessing this is the same.

I would rather pay a service to get me and my car home safe than leave it on the street.
If your car if already in a safe location then catch a cab, if you can find one, if not then this is a great idea and is used else where to great effect. Couple of times we have had a few spontaneous after work drinks and had to cut it short to make sure no one was over the limit. Either that or nominated a skipper and used the work car as a taxi. Quick call and you get driver to rescue you and your car. Not my first choice for planning ahead but has the potential to be very handy. |

The folding scooter idea tends to work better in dense cities where you aren't going to far. I believe its a big hit in London and it has been tried here before. However with the spread of Perth, it is much more practical to have someone follow in a car. The other factor to consider when comparing to a taxi is detention time. A taxi charges forty something an hour on top of the flag fall and km rate. We dont charge for time unless you keep us waiting for too long. |

What's to long? An hour? And would you charge $40 for that long of a wait?

If you called us up to say come get us now, we would give you a time that we will be there. If we are on time i would make a judgment call and if we are unnecessarily waiting for longer than 5-10 minutes we would probably charge $5 for every additional five minutes we are waiting. But thats better than a cab, they start the meter right away.
At the end of the day, you made the booking/call so why would you keep us waiting. (We do understand it takes just a little bit longer to say drunken goodbyes). |
