Some would say less megapix = less noise and higher fps shooting.

It is also on par with the 1d, not so much the 1ds but that is 3 times the price almost.

Don't believe the MP myth :)

My mate is a wedding photographer, he's using a full frame to blow the pics up to double size of A3. He needs a Full Frame with high density of pixels.

Yep, agreed with D3 par with 1D, but not the 1Ds. :icon_thum

LOL I missread the D3 specs I thought it said 21.1megapixel haha in todays standards 12.1 is too low, I know the whole Megapixels dont mean much but when your working in Fashion/Glamour photography and need to blow the photos up huge it does matter! There is lots of wedding photographers that use 5ds. But like you said it is on par with the 1dMkIII be interesting to see how good it copes with noise as Nikon have always been behing canon, the d3 looks more like a Nature/sports camera to me.

very nice cameras, if they announce some new af-s fast primes 24/35/50/85mm then id gladly switch. :) The glass is still holding me back...

12.1 is fine and being FF the dr, low level of noise @ high iso will be fantastic.

Fashion/Glamour is really MF's forte.. and the D3x will come out in 6 months or so @ 20mp+ for those sort of applications... and to compete with the 1ds MkIII

TopGear 24-08-2007 02:40 PM

Yeah they are nice cameras but why switch? Im sure Canon will be bringing a replacement for the 5d soon and it will be interesting to see what sensor that has! and Canon's 1ds mkIII is supposed to be aimed at The MF users in Fashion I read somwhere.

Most people won't switch. I mean why would you if you already have a nice array of glass. Your going to have to sell it all and then buy glass for the different brand. Once the person has made a choice for his first camera, your generally just going to upgrade the body within the same brand.

I'm more interested in the D300 line of cameras as one of these equivalents will compliment my d40x in 2 to 4 years i reckon :)
