Buying DSLR from overseas
 

Hi everyone,

Looking at buying a Canon 450D, but I'm a bit confused.

To put it simply, I can buy one here or I can buy one from Hong Kong on eBay for quite a bit less.

Thoughts?

Cheap, quick and their products are awesome. Great customer service too. I've bought quite a few $ worth of stuff from them for myself and family. Wasn't ever disappointed.

Looking at the 450D for the mrs, and you can pick it up in the $850 - $900 range. Locally they are around $1k - $1.2k mark without the little shit bits that DR include (spare china spec battery, lens cloth, etc etc).

They don't have any 450D's at the moment!

Found this one...its a Kiss X2 though, whicih I'm assuming is the same as the 450D, just the overseas version.

Good, or no? I'm not too fussed on lenses, I just want something thats better than my point and shoot :)

pity there are none on Digi Rev.
i got my 40d through them and cannot fault them.

If your unsure about the company maybe message a few users who have bought from this supplier. it couldnt hurt.

i thought international camera warranty is only valid on the lenses not the bodies???

so repairs (if needed) need to be organised in HK?

bought plenty of lenses and stuff from digital rev, although I did by my camera body here, I wouldnt hesitate buying one from hong kong as long as it has an international warranty card, also digital rev has the best delivery times from hong kong for me so far.

looking at these prices and since our dollar is $US0.75 at the moment it'd be cheaper to buy from Stu

Joe, my dad recently picked up a 450D from a shop that sells from Singapore?? Saved a few hundred bucks on the local price and its all badged the same as the locally delivered product!

If your interested, I'll see if I can find out the shop he bought through!

also look at the ones that have (no gst) in the name otherwise you might get slugged for the gst, although I havnt yet :p
