The free PDF995 is ad sponsored.

PDFCreator, as mentioned above, is definitely the best completely free (open source) solution. They've got a fancy website now separate from the SourceForge page: http://www.pdfforge.org

If all you need to do is create PDFs, why bother with the bulk of a pirated version of Acrobat.

Never had any probs with it!
I select it as the printer and my doc comes out exactly how its meant to...

The big difference is that cutepdf uses the previous document name for the pdf name (in the free version).
Whereas PDFCreator uses the actual document name as the pdf name.

Now this may not be a big issue for some, but I regularly convert over 100 AutoCAD drawings to pdf and having to type in the drawing name for every pdf sux.
I just setup PDFCreator to put the pdf in a specific directory, start the batch routine and go make a coffee. 5 minutes later I have 100 correctly named pdf's.
You cant get any better.
