I went through the same dilemma recently when looking for a DLSR for the missus. I was initially going to go for a Cannon EOS1000D with the twin IS lens kit but after talking to a few people I was shown the Pentax Kx which is currently being done with a Sigma 18-125 lens for about $800. I got really good assistance from teh fellows at Plaza Cameras in teh city. |
Thanks for the advice guys. Time to hit the shops tonight then
sorry again Scary for crashing the thread |
has anyone used mirrorless cameras like the Lumix GF2?
how is pic quality compare to a proper DSLR? The size of DSLRs is what puts me off them |
Got my 5D from JB in Canningvalle, took a lot of haggling and I managed to smash a lot off the price after dealing with all the major shops around Perth. Managed to get ebay pricing without the ebay risk. I think the shop assistant was called Anhela, i've gone back and bought a few other camera items from her and they've all been well priced.
what did u end up paying for ur 5d (mk2?) body only?? if i may ask? |
yup mk2, cost $4k but that was Early June 09, probably a lot cheaper now.

I have a Cannon 400d, great camera, paid $1500 for it and has taken some great pic. Came with 2 lenses. Will consider selling it if you want it mate as I don't really use it anymore, the Lumix is good enough for me nowadays.
