Define low light photography? In house portraits? Bounced flash does the job nicely

Usually 1/100 F4 ISO400 is good enough for tungsten lit room. Anything darker and you'll need newer/bigger sensor.

To give you an example 5d mk2 will be fine with ISO1600 and even ISO3200 occasionally. That's at least 2-3 stops better than your camera but as with everything you get what you pay for

New toy has arrived, 1/4 mile in 11.2 sec and only 114hp!

Usually I have the Flash pointed at a 45deg towards the roof with the diffuser, it just seems to make obscure shadows etc.. Maybe it is time I learn how to use this flash a lot better!

Yes in house portraits. I will give the 1/100 F4 ISO400 a try and see how I go.

5D is definitely my next choice but after Craig_H saying the 60D the specs on that look pretty good. Video camera is a bit of overkill though.

I'd take 2nd hand 5d over new 60d every time. 60d has the digic4 processor but 5d's full frame sensor will beat it in low light conditions
