What's the 1.4 Conv?
Basically multiplies the focal length of your lens by 1.4x. |

You can get one here for $1300 inc postage brand new (it's where I got mine from)...I've been looking around gumtree for a while and the 2nd hand prices are way too high. Judging by your website the 24-70 would definitely be perfect for the type of photography you do Kym...doooo iiitttt! :D |
Wouldn't mind a 85mm f/1.2L II.
I've got the 24-70, its a good lens but very heavy, you really need the battery grip to balance the weight out. |
Yeah I know what you mean sleepy! I've only got the puny little 600D so had to get the battery grip to avoid dropping it all the time! Feels much better now.
It is however much lighter than the 120-400mm  |
Main two lens you should have are
24-70 F2.8 L 70 -200 f2.9 IS L Don't compromise and go F4 you will regret it. As for those extenders they are handy, though you do loose couple stops by using them. edit: kym those prices are not to bad. and both the 24-70 and 70-200 are the good ones. Id go the mk2 over the 5d . where are all these ? |
Yea, be careful with extenders. You'll certainly lose a stop or two and, often, with it you'll lose some lower light auto focus capabilities.
|
Also, rumors of a new model 24-70 coming out soon, so if aren't in a rush I'd wait a little bit longer just in case you can snap up a bargain.
|
i'm thinking of selling my 70-200 f2.8 IS...great lens but dont use it enough...still unsure but when i do decide to let it go I'll let you know kym
24-70 + 70-200 great combo ninja edit: 1.4x ext will cost you 1 stop, 2x extender 2 stops |
You only lose 1 stop with a 1.4x extender, I sometimes use one on my 70-200mm and 300mm. No issues really.
EDIT: whs. |
Wide lenses are where it's at.. the 14mm f/2.8 L II is beyond awesome
|
The quality of the extender has a lot to do with the stop loss. Chinese spec = higher stop losses.

I recently bought a 24-70L 2.8 and love it, but i'm using a crap 40D with a vertical grip.
Next on my list is a 70-200L 2.8 and a mk2. Pete gopal, how much are you looking at selling your lens for if you do? |
Nothing wrong with a 40D... :D
|
Not a bad start, but I want that full frame, just don't have the cash needed for a 5D.
