Default Youtube uploads.

How long on average does it take to upload a short ( 3-4 minutes ) HD clip onto youtube? It's been taking me about 2.5 hours which seems a little bit long. I have ADSL2+. Is this normally how long it takes?

I have VLC media player on my PC and I reckon it might be the problem.

Do you have any software that can show you how much bandwidth is being allocated to the upload?

Have you edited it to make the file size smaller before uploading?

a 3 - 4 minute video is around 400 - 500MB (HD 1080p@60htz), assuming you don't live across the road from your local exchange I would guess you are running at around 90KB's a second on your upload. Doing some maths tells me it should take your net 2 hours tops to upload a file of that size, plus or minus half an hour. This is also not taking into account you downloading porn and choking your bandwidth. Hope this helps

Ran some speed tests and PC is a little slow - 15.25Mbps download/0.85Mbps Upload.

Don't know how to do that. I am a technotard. Right click on the file and there is no option to edit or compress...

So it seems the speed is about right then or a bit slow because PC possibly needs a clean up?
I don't download porn, my brother sends it to me...

A clean up could help in general, but it won't increase your upload/ download. Do you get a specific error message or freezing while uploading?

"Ran some speed tests and PC is a little slow - 15.25Mbps download/0.85Mbps Upload."

That's 3 times faster than my ADSL2+ connection you lucky bastard. I would ssay you live easily less than 1km from your excahnge.

Yeah there is one not far away now that you mention it. I think it's the VLC media player as youtube says it doesn't recognise it, but processes it regardless.

Sounds like I'm not far off where I should be.

Cheers.
