Yeah to add to this, monopods can actually make it more difficult to get a smooth panning action with the camera, especially in the case of an oblique pan. Only use mine when I'm shooting head-on shots for extended periods and that's only to save the arms!

As for IS I'm 'meh' about it. Have used mine on the OFF, 1-way and 2-way settings and the difference was negligable.

The most important thing for me when learning to pan, was to get the focussing set up correctly, because a slow AF setup will result in more missed/softer shots.

Then again I'm not a pro...haha

Another rig shot, this time I used the full 6.5m. Again, Russ you did amazing work. At full length on a really bumpy road it held up amazingly! Suffered a lot with noise in the shadows though, they were really dark. Might need to look into noise ninja or similar...

Rig shot is good - can see there was some bounce (evident in the trees) but I like it overall!

Quite the popular location...I posted some shots from there a few pages back also (not taking credit though, been used by a few others over the years)

Nothing special just a quick run to Freo for dinner on Sunday Evening.
I thought I would try some rolling shots and what better way to take it then in my STI with very stiff coilovers.... Dialled in the settings for the Mrs and got to say she did a good job with little to no photography experience. :P

This is also my first "proper attempt" I tried a few slower shutter speed like 1/50s - 1/80s but my car/road was way too bumpy to get the whole picture to be tack sharp.
I tried a higher shutter speed but wasn't getting any blur as it was too quick but around 1/100s was be best suited at the time.

Trying out this selective colour editing... going though all these phases in Lightroom lol

We are going to try this again but this time I'm going to be in the Mr's VW Polo
Something I just realised after all these years, that no body takes pictures of the photographer's car
