With the KA Guard off the newer models do slightly better against 35.5 KA Radar. But KA Radar is not a big threat here.
The Laser detection capabilities between the 3.863 & 3.892 were all in par IMO - but the 3.893 is slightly more sensitive to Laser. It was always top notch though when compared to other models i.e XR

* Improved K band range from the 3.872 to the 3.893. As well forgot to mention

1. Superoo
2. BMTH
3. BMTH

So that's three so far. I'm awaiting a relative to give me an answer RE a one.

To confirm mine is a 3.872 firmware.

Can someone with bit of knowledge explain this to me, with handheld lasers you only get notified when the cop is measuring your speed?

Simply because the laser signal from the handheld device is only activated when the officer presses the trigger.. ie when the officer attempts to read your speed.

A radar detector cannot detect a signal that isn't there.. so if the trigger is not pressed to read speed, there is no signal.

The cop measured the car in front of me. The V1 went off, then as I went past, he had the laser at his side, not activated I would assume and it still went nuts..... :/

Yes BUT the V1 is so sensitive to laser that you may get an alert from the laser "scatter" when they are measuring a vehicle in front of you. I've actually gotten alerts on the reverse fixed cameras prior to the camera due to laser scatter bouncing off the vehicles in front.

ALWAYS take any laser alert seriously. I've had scatter alerts (very short) to then get a sustained alert when the hand held laser is pointing at my vehicle specifically.

With Poliscans, you'll get a briefer alert which then stops and then the more sustained alert as you enter the photo measurement zone.
