Whistler vs Valentine One

Hi Guys
i know this is an old thread -
My old man uses a whistler and only noticed this thread on val one - never heard of them before.
Are they any good (better than the wistler)

thinking ot picking one up (detector) that is

any comments and comparisons would be great

V1 is the most sensitive detector on the market last I checked. Since almost all police speed enforcement has become laser based (with the exception of k-band dash mounted units and the odd multinova) it is definatley recommended to have a detector that is sensitive to laser.

If you want full protection, the Laser Interceptor is recommended as they function both as a laser detector and a laser shifter.

High mount the detector for best range if you do get one.

Is there a better laser scanner that can alert for poliscan cameras? My v1 does pick up on those but detection range depending on the angle of the camera. I've got it mounted horizontally just above the dash...does the vertical mounts actually increase the detection range?

Vertical mounts won't help with laser.

With the old multi-novas, yes.

95% off all speed enforcement is now laser based. Your best bet is to high mount the detector - I purchased a rear view mirror mount from the states - $70 landed and hard wired the detector and ran the cable up the A pillar and along the roof lining. I have a tutorial on here for that if you search "V1 install" should pop up.

I'm upgrading to a Laser Interceptor which Rowan supplies @ Radars Direct. Jams the Poliscan a better percentage of the time and is much more sensitive to laser than the traditional detectors.
