Yeah, I've seen that a few times. Saw it once after the belt was done at a dealer too. (not here, in Qld)
Care must be taken to set the gap on those belt guides.

Forester kit is different.
There are numerous different waterpumps. Some have cast impeller, some have pressed impeller.
I've not heard of cavitation, not heard of a witch pump either...
