Default What have they done to my gearbox?

I pulled the 5 speed gearbox on my 98 jdm type r coupe to replace the clutch. I noticed the serial number on the case is for a 93 jdm legacy/ 93 GT. These boxes supposedly have no dccd and run a viscous centre.
Mine definitely has a dccd with clutch style centre diff, clearly visible upon removal of the little top cover with the solenoid cable running into it.
My car definitely has an R180 rear, but I'm unsure if they changed anything inside that.
What are the possible scenarios?
I'm assuming the original type R box broke.....so would it be possible they swapped the Type R rear housing, complete with dccd and front diff into the legacy housing with its 1-5 gearset ?
What other scenarios are there? What would need changing?
I cant find reference codes on my R180, but assume it's the Type R 4.444 type.
