Default Opinions: HSD coilovers

I'm in the market for some new coilovers, the ones i got cheap don't fit, and decided not to hack the car up!
I've been looking at HSD's and was just chasing some opinions from people that have them or have used them in the past
also want to know whether I should go the TT or HR series?
and also where to get them for the best price?(i can fit them myself)

Car is my daily driver, but will also be seeing the odd track day/drags
Any help is much appreciated

PM BALISTIC, he sells them. In fact I bought my Type HR HSD coilovers (for an MY99 GC8 WRX) from him. Highly recommended. Looking at $1500-$1600 purchased + $350 for fitting and proper alignment

Gday dude,

I was the guinea pig of these in late 2006. They still reside in my car today. I have the HR series. Pillow ball mounts front and rear. I dont think they are as hard as everyone generally reckons, and I have stiffer spring rates then what you will get by default with them.

I have the 15 step adjustable damper set at 8, and its more than compliant for a daily driver. My only 2 gripes, well, one really, is mine dont have a brake line bracket to secure the braided line too. (The new ones might have this though - Joe will be happy to help you out).

And the minor clunking at low speeds/turning, (think carpark sorta stuff), I happily live with, for the 'sure footedness' that they provide. For an 'entry level' piece of kit - they have been great. Any questions you may have, Im happy to help if I can.

Brent.

I am 100% happy with mine.
I run the HR series with the standard spring rates. The dampners are awesome, set to whatever you need and they will perform exactly how you want them to.
My new ones (2 months old) have all the brake line brackets, so it was literally a straight swap, with all the advantages (height adjustment/camber).
Unsure if the GC8 models have camber as it is limited to strut types only.
Either way, a sound piece of gear .

Gc8 models do have camber adjustment.

I have the HRs in mine. Nice on the track not too bad for daily depending how bad the roads your driving on are and on how much you value comfort.

Personally I would try going with the HRs as they come with all the fruit maybe with a lower spring rate. But go feel them in someones car make your own mind up.

TT's are nice and comfortable and come with pillow balls, the HR's are slightly more hardcore... bigger diameter struts, etc, and stiffer spring rates. Still fairly comfortable though!

All new HSD's come with brake/abs line brackets built in.
