Steve ANdrews had one in his MY00 sti and reckons that he could run it with the reserve light on. Dont know if he was trying to make others jealous but it is obviously a lot better than the standard.

Cheers

Steve told me in dec to wait a few months to get one after they'd 'developed' it a little more. He said they were hoping to get it down to 1/8th of a tank... sounds like that's a little ambitious.

I'm getting surge with almost a full tank on every cnr. I'm sure it relates to that fucked up Walbro I installed, I never had a problem before that.

So whats the deal with the RA tank.. same as the MRT one they sell for $1500

Chris, the way you attach the little filter sock to the end of the pump or which filter sock you use is critical to how it functions regards fuel surge. You should at least get to half tank before its an issue.

The aftermarket STI one would be the same as the MRT STI one they sell for just over a grand. But there is now an aftermarket one been developed for about the $400 mark.

I was selling mine for $500, 6 months ago and no one wanted it
MRT ended up purchasing it from me. Probably sold it to someone for double that price

I've ordered the STi pump and received it today. There does not seem much to the anti surge system on the pump I can't see it being much different to the MRT one, but I’ll see how it works on the surge problems I have had.

wtf is fuel surge? Is it when your low on fuel and take a hard turn - your car basically shuts down?

If so - iv only had that problem on my car when i was on the empty line (very very low)

other wise - hard corners all the time with fuel light on

Spot on Todd. Some cars (especially the early models) copped it quite bad where you could be just under half a tank and do a sharp right hander (fuel pick up is on the right hand side of the tank) and almost go through the windscreen.

The trickery with the STI one is all in the little box on the bottom.

The new Spec C's combat fuel surge in two ways. Firstly there is the anti-surge fuel pick up as shown in the photos above and secondly by having a 50L tank that doesnt have the hump over the transmission tunnel.
